Meet Amani💕

When I found astrology for the first time, I had no idea what it was. I would read my horoscope frequently in undergrad because I am a Sagittarius and apparently, people had a lot to say about us (we are not Sagi-terrorists, we just have to try everything and we have a hard time committing to things and people). I wanted to know what this day had in store for me, what my week looked like, and what type of month I was going to have. I will admit though… not all the horoscope entries resonated with me, so it was a hit-and-miss sometimes. Despite that, my Taurus Moon appreciated the semblance of stability that it gave me. I noticed that when I didn’t read my horoscope, I felt lost and confused about my life.

When I moved to St. Louis, for grad school, I introduced myself to yoga (yes, that’s possible). I fell in love with it and it truly changed my life. I practiced daily, even hours at a time, I could not get enough of it. I was so captivated by the profound regulation my nervous system experienced, it inspired me to pursue my yoga teacher certification. That is a story in itself, so I’ll save that for later.

Fast-forward a few years, I decided to pick up tarot reading. I am a firm believer that you consume the things that you want to be/do. I watched countless tarot readings on youtube, timeless readings, astrology centered readings, collective readings, and love readings (yes, I’m human too). I bought my first learners deck from etsy not long after, along with a few interpretation books, and it’s been uphill since. With each reading, I feel a calm wave rush over me. A connectedness to my spiritual team. My ancestors. My guides, that have been trying to contact me for who knows how long, to tell me that they’ve got my back and to keep going.

My learner’s deck from etsy had everything associated with each card on it, which helped me connect all the dots. The card included information about the upright and reversed interpretation, of course, and it also listed the zodiac sign associated with the card and its relation to numerology. If I didn’t have this deck, I would have never known the planets correlated with the cards, but I didn’t take those seriously then. It would take a few years of heartbreak, achieving goals, failure, and rebuilding for me to really dive into astrology.

My astrological dive began when I learned what Saturn’s Return was and when mine was coming. Understanding what Saturn's Return was helped me understand that it was not my fault why certain people behaved the way they did during certain time periods.  Saturn opened a lot of doors for me and unlocked one I had forgotten about. I was big into God of War as a kid (I was way too young playing that game…), so I had a basic understanding of Greek mythology. Zeus, was the God of Thunder and who was his father? Cronus, father time, the one who maintains cycles.

✨But Amani, what does this have to do with Saturn? ✨

Ah yes, well these are the Greek God equivalents. The Romans told their tales a different way, with different names, too. The Roman Equivalent of Zeus is Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius and the Roman equivalent of Cronus is…. trumpet fanfare Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn. It’s all connected, right in our face, this whole time. Who would’ve thought. Not I said the fly. Father time is coming from my ass, and I need to show him, and essentially the Universe, that I’ve been doing what I need to.

I dived into my chart and I recognized some of the glyphs, but it just looked like a whole bunch of shapes and SO MANY lines. None of it made sense. All I could tell was that I was more Sagittarius than I thought since I had 4 planets, including my Sun, in the sign. There was so much information and with Saturn beginning to rear his head over the horizon, I spent all my free time searching the web for the information I craved to fill in the never ending list of gaps I did know existed. Some time has passed since then, and here we are at the present moment. Writing this blog post on my website for all to see and experience. My Cancer Rising is scared to death, but my Saturn in Aries and North Node in Leo demands I make my presence known while my 6th House stellium implores me to be of service to you, whoever is reading this post.

This is my calling, combining yoga, tarot, and astrology to the betterment of all. To offer insight that initiates regulation. More to come in the future. Stay tuned and stay centered.

Peace Abide,

Amani <3
