I've decided to leave my job… but my Mars in Libra. Part 1

Amani, what does that even mean??

Quick astrology lesson: Mars is in Detriment when in Libra. Detriment means the planet resides in the sign opposite of its ruler sign, which is Aries. This creates a situation where the impulsive and fiery nature of Mars can clash with Libra's tendency to be diplomatic and balanced leading to passive-aggressiveness and indecisive behaviors. When I tell you, I would bounce between those two behaviors like it was my job, it's wild. Learning this about myself helped me target the root of the problem and begin the work to be more direct and honest with others while still being true to myself.

For those that don’t know me, I am a physical therapist. I’ve always wanted to be one ever since I knew what the job was. I took the traditional path of going to college, then going BACK to college  (🙄😮‍💨😫) to get my Doctor of Physical Therapy. I enjoy the career that I chose; I genuinely love helping people reach their goals and seeing them become the best version of themselves. Currently, I work by myself averaging 8-10 patients a day, sometimes even 12 😭 and I’m getting burnt out, honestly been burnt. Being the only PT in a clinic is ROUGH. No one to chop it up with, be a science nerd, or share a mutual disdain for notes. It’s time for something different, so I can keep growing as a clinician and pursue my interests, such as this lovely website you have decided to visit today 🙂.

I attempted to pursue travel PT earlier this year, but I chickened out and convinced myself that I could stay and make it work at my job, but after a series of events and the lingering feeling of dissatisfaction, I did the only thing that I knew could to help ease this anxious feeling….ask my cards.

I used my learner deck because I wanted to get ALL the messages the Universe had for me with this one reading. So I shuffled my deck, cut it and dealt my favorite Yes/No spread. I asked “Is it time for me to leave my current job to pursue travel PT? I received a Yes in the form of the Ace of Swords, Ace of Wands and The World, with the 4 of Wands as the back of the deck energy.

The Ace of Swords reminded me that I needed to be honest with myself to make any of this work. The Sword suit represents air energy. The mind, logic, thoughts and how they are processed. Coming clean to myself about how I was stalling as a clinician and how I wasn’t happy/satisfied at my job helped me see how much I value my time and what I am able to do with it. Y’all… when I tell you I was bringing work home every night, I mean EVERY night. Now that didn’t mean I always did it, cuz you have to take a break every once in a while, but those notes would be waiting for me at the door! My breaking point was performing the ultimate magic trick of finishing 13 notes during a 4 hour car ride to Chicago, because I was going to see my sister graduate from basic training the next day and I didn’t want to bring that work into this special weekend. I legit felt my brain melt after submitting that last note. After that, I knew I needed something to change.

Ace of Wands represent an opportunity to create or take a risk. I am being given a golden opportunity here to create something worthwhile by pursuing travel PT. I’ve worked at two clinics since becoming licensed in 2024 and one thing I’ve realized is: I absolutely hate being part of the grind. That shit is NOT for me, under any circumstances. No ma’am. No ham. No turkey. Traveling as PT provides me an opportunity to have the flexibility I crave in my schedule to take time off, indulge in my hobbies, and work on my business. And they make hella bread. That’s the icing on the cupcake. This card reminded me that by taking the first steps to making my dreams a reality, I can create the life I want: building my business, while making a difference in the lives of others using the knowledge I learned from my VERY expensive degree.

The World represents the completion of cycles, directly correlating with Saturn, Father Time. This card typically reveals itself when it’s time to wrap up a season of your life and begin a new one. For me, it’s letting me know that my time at my current job is coming to an end and it’s time to try something new in this next chapter of my life. One filled with learning, taking chances, and growth. I mentioned Saturn in my last blog Father time, the enforcer of boundaries and restrictions. The man plays with no one; constantly trying to teach you a lesson while also testing you on that same lesson at the same time. One thing Saturn is gonna do is teach you a lesson and right now, Saturn is telling me I've learned the lesson, so it's on to the next.

The back of the deck energy was the 4 of Wands, which represents stability and celebration. It's ruled by Aries, which just so happens to be where my Saturn resides. Lucky me, right? Saturn is in Fall in Aries, which makes it a struggle to push against boundaries like my chart wants me too. This card was perfect for me though. As I am writing this, I just made another connection: The 4 of Wands represents a close-knit community, just look at the card, a celebration with friends and family are in the works. The 4th house, which is where my Mars in Libra lives, governing my family relations, home and my inner emotional world of a person. The 11th house, which my Saturn lives, represents social groups/community, friends and aspirations for the collective. This card tells me where to focus my energy in order to make this Yes a reality, basically telling me what my new chapter will be about. Rebuilding my relationship with my family, reconnecting with my village, cultivating a home within, because home is where the heart is, and going back outside, being in and serving my community.

Omg I love doing readings 😆. It's legit my jam. My ancestors and spirit guides don't play about me. If you want a reading done let me know. Hit me up, I'll pull a card. Book a reading. I'll read you for filth, in the nicest way I can. I’ve got a part two coming, because my Yes/No spreads are two-fold. So I’ll see y’all then 😉.

Peace Abide,

Amani 💕
